This right is protected by the first amendment because its the freedom of speech. This person who is giving this speech is stating a opinion.

  1. I like to see the thought and effort you put into this assignment. There are 4 protected situations.
-Circulating a petition is Freedom of Petition.
-Dwight Howard got fined by the NBA which can make its own rules about behavior much like school but the government cannot fine someone for expressing their opinion on their blog, that is Freedom of Press.
-Profanity is not protected under Freedom of Speech in public. That is considered disturbing the peace.
-People's opinions in the newspaper are protected by the Freedom of Press.

Don't forget to write 2-3 sentences about why the 1st Amendment is important to you.
